About IndyIMBY

IndyIMBY started in 2015 as a pro-development blog making the case that Indianapolis should welcome more neighbors. It relaunched in 2026 as a civic data project: a weekly-updated map of every development filing in Marion County, a Monday digest, and practical guides to participating in the hearings where the city’s future is decided.

It’s written and built by Jeffery Tompkins, AICP — an Indianapolis urban planner, principal of Proformus, and author of Thinking Big by Thinking Small.

All data comes from public records of the Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development. Locations are approximate; every map marker links to its source document. Code for the tracker and this site is open — corrections and contributions welcome.
